Describing Photographs Assignment

Photo 1:

1. This is a photo of a lady hanging clothes on a power line, standing on a metal ladder.

2. The first thing that catches your eye is the lady on the ladder in the foreground, in the midground you see the clothes hanging off of the powerlines, and in the background you see the roof of a barn and multiple trees.

3. The photo is vivid and bright.

Photo 2:

1. This is a photo of a man standing on a canoe ashore, with the appearance of glass merging to water.

2. The photo makes us feel as if the man in the image is confused. 

3. In the background you see a normal lake, but in the foreground the lake appears as pieces of glass.

Photo 3:

1. This is a photo of a man punching himself in the face, making it look like he's his own punching bag. 

2. This photo makes us feel curious because what he's doing in unrealistic.

3. The photographer probably wants to show what it's like for people with insecurities.

Photo 4:

1. This picture shows the illusion of a small island on the back of an enormous fish.

2. The viewers attention if focused mainly on the fish because it takes up most of the picture, and is unrealistically large.

3. The photo makes us think about how it was created, because it's not something you can realistically capture. 

Photo 5:

1. This is a photo of a man holding a chainsaw in one hand, while in the other, he's dragging a sleigh topped with fish in frozen ice cubes.

2. This photo is dark. The sky is stormy and the mans face is distant (like he's focused on something else). 

3. In the foreground you see the man pulling the sleigh, and the background is the dark stormy sky. 

Photo 6:

1. This is a photo of a tired man whom appears to be leaving one portal and entering another.

2. The viewers attention is focused mainly on the two doors in the midground because they are shining bright lights.

3. It seems to me that the man in the image is trying to escape from his past. That's why the doors appear to me as portals.

Photo 7:

1. This is a photo of a man in a giant pair of boots, making his way through an open field. 

2. This photo symbolizes adventure, it looks like he's going on a journey.

3. The use of light in the background shows that the man was traveling all day because the sun is beginning to set.

Photo 8:
1. This is a photo of a man who was on a bike ride but stopped because the road was no longer accessible.

2. This photo represents challenges because the man now has to figure out how to proceed on his route. 

3. The perspective of the image looks like it was dramatically changed to give the appearance of the road falling.

Photo 9:

1. This is a photo of a man standing infront of a canvas painting the scenery and the mans upper half turns into the painting.

2. The viewers attention is on the canvas because it is the focus of the image. The background appears to be blurred.

3. The photo makes us feel confused as to why the man becomes the painting.
